Cataract

Cataract is the blurring of the lens of the eye.
This blurring occurs mainly with normal aging of the body, but it can also be caused by diseases (diabetes, metabolic diseases) or injuries or drugs (corticosteroids) while it is rarely congenital (congenital cataract).

Symptoms:

The symptoms of cataract is blurred vision which cannot be corrected with prescription glasses, reduced vision at night, difficulty driving at night, difficulty recognizing faces, difficulty in reading and sensitivity to sunlight.

Treatment:

Cataract is not treated with medication and the only treatment is surgery. During surgery, the blurred lens is removed and replaced with an artificial lens.
